Common Name: Yellowhead Characin, Yellowhead Tetra, Yellow-banded moenkhausia 

Adult Size: 3 inches

Lifespan: 3 - 5 years

Habitat: South America, Brazil, River Basin areas

Aquarium Size: 30 gallons (this is a schooling fish and should be kept in groups of 5 or more)

Ideal Water Conditions:

• pH : 6 - 7.5
• Temperature : 75°F - 80°F
• Water Hardness : 5° to 20°

Temperament: A very peaceful tetra that needs to be in a school of 5 or more.

Diet / Foods: Should eat most common aquarium foods. Flakes, frozen, freeze dried and may nibble at some aquarium plants.

Breeding: They will scatter their eggs on the substrate. The adults may eat the eggs.

Gender: May be able to tell a difference in males and females when the female gets "fatter" or fuller.
